Your wedding day is going to be one of the most memorable days of your life. You want to look and feel the beautiful, radiant bride with your makeup enhancing your natural beauty. Your every blush, smile and kiss will be recorded on film so your bridal makeup needs to be picture perfect and look flawless all through your big day. This guide to wedding makeup will take the stress out planning your wedding makeup.

Wedding makeup advice: Prepare your skin for your wedding day

Unfortunately many women wait until they are only a few months away from their wedding day before they even begin to give any thought to skin care. Start early and take care of your skin now. You will need to work out your skin type to help you establish a proper skin care regime. This, combined with good eating habits, drinking plenty of water, getting enough sleep and regular exercise will ensure that your skin will be radiant on your big day.

For help understanding your skin type and how to develop a quick and easy skin care routine please read Donnas article; Great looking skin A simple 4 step skin care guide.

Wedding makeup tip: Beware facials !

Unless you have facials on a regular basis DO NOT get one the week before your wedding day. Facials can pull impurities to the surface, and you do not want to break out the week of your wedding. To also help avoid blotches and blemishes do not make any major changes in your skin care routine during the few weeks before your wedding. The weeks before your wedding is not the time to experiment with your skin care. If you regularly get facials have your last regular facial a good week before the wedding.

Wedding makeup tip: Pimples and acne.

If you do have a breakout, do not pick. Do not do anything that can irritate or redden or enlarge the problem. Use pure Aloe Vera to treat any bumps or breakouts. It is a wonderful healer.

Wedding makeup tip: Keep away from too much sun.

Don’t get too much sun before your wedding. Sunburns, peeling skin and tan lines can sabotage your special day.

Wedding makeup advice: Use a professional makeup artist or do it yourself ?

If you are confident in applying your own makeup there is no reason you cant do your own wedding makeup. If you are not so confident with your makeup abilities your wedding makeup is not the time to experiment you want to look your absolute best on the day and your wedding photos will be your lifetime mementos of your special day. If you are unsure of your makeup abilities, or just want the peace of mind of not having to worry about your makeup, use a professional.

Either way read on Im sure you will find the following tips and advice useful.

Wedding makeup advice: Things to consider when planning your wedding makeup.

You will want your makeup to be appropriate for the time of day, the venue (indoors or outdoors) and complement the style of your wedding dress so once you have confirmed the arrangements for your wedding day, and you have decided the style of your wedding dress, you can start to think about the style of makeup you prefer. Things to consider include;

Night time or day time wedding ?

Night time weddings are typically more formal than day time weddings. For a night time wedding consider a more sophisticated makeup look. For a day time wedding makeup tends to be more natural.

Indoors or outdoors wedding ?

Outside lighting is stronger so your makeup should to be softer and more natural than makeup for an indoor wedding.

The lighting.

Different lighting requires different makeup styles. Night time lighting tends to dull makeup so a stronger makeup look is preferable. Natural and day time lighting is more generous to makeup so, again, consider a more natural makeup look.

The color of your dress.

Ivory and off white tend to make the skin look softer and can therefore support a more glamorous makeup style. White tends to look strong and washes out most faces so consider using softer colors to enhance the face.

The style of your dress.

The stronger the neckline of your dress the more sophisticated the hair and makeup style will need to be match the dress style. A neckline that cuts deep and is off the shoulders will look great with a hair up hair style so that the line of the neck and shoulders is shown off. Consider also the length of the dress, the shorter the dress the more simple the hair and makeup should be. Remember you are creating an entire picture, do not wear a beautiful dress and stylish heels and then wear your hair and makeup like you do when you wear your jeans. Don’t sell yourself short on such a memorable day.

Wedding makeup tip: Give yourself plenty of time to organize your makeup.

Before you meet with a makeup artist, or purchase any makeup, take some time to go through bridal magazines and pull out makeup styles that you really like and some you don’t like. Armed with your bridal magazine cut outs and a picture of your wedding dress book an appointment with your makeup artist for a trial run or a consultation at your cosmetics counter. Don’t do this at the last minute. Make sure you have a good couple of weeks up your sleeve so you have time for a couple of sessions if you don’t settle on a preferred style and colors first time up. Once you have your makeup look sorted make sure the makeup artist or beauty consultant writes everything out, and notes any makeup items you may not have that you need to purchase. If you are doing your own makeup have a couple of dry runs well before your big day so you have the makeup style and look perfected well ahead of time.

Wedding makeup tip: Be yourself

You want to look sensational but remember you want to look like yourself and feel comfortable with your appearance. You can look great and stay within your comfort zone. You want your husband to be to recognize you when you walk down the aisle.

Plan ahead and give yourself time to find the makeup look that you love and feels comfortable.

Wedding makeup advice: Purchasing or selecting your makeup.

Now you have settled on your makeup style here are some tips and advice on your specific makeup requirements:

Foundation: Sort out your foundation well ahead of time.

The key to successful wedding makeup is perfect looking skin. Make sure that your foundation matches your skin tone exactly and doesnt look mask like. Give yourself plenty of time to experiment and find the perfect foundation for you.

For help selecting your foundation please Donnas article; Choosing and applying foundation A simple step by step guide.

Wedding makeup tip: Highlight one facial feature

You know your best facial feature; your plump rosy lips, your beautiful eyes or your lovely check bones. Your makeup should highlight your chosen feature. Don’t try and highlight more than one feature, it will look too much. If you use a bold red lipstick to highlight your beautiful lips go low key with your eye makeup. Conversely if you choose a stunning smoky eye look choose a more subtle lipstick or lip gloss.

Wedding makeup tip: Watch out for seemed a good idea at the time.

Watch out for fads; in 20 years time hot pink lipstick will date your wedding photos. You want to look as classic as possible so that your photo memories are timeless.

Blush: Become a truly blushing bride by choosing a warm flattering cheek color in a pinky peach or rose or, if you tend to get flushed, a brownish tone. Experiment and find the blush color that suits your skin tone. Use a powder based blush, they will usually last longer than cream blushers. To apply blush, start at the hairline by the middle of your ear, blend forward to the front of the cheek, and then back to the hairline and upwards. For a perfect application find a blush brush that is the size of the apple of your cheek. After the initial application dust the blush with some loose powder and then apply a touch more blush to the front of the cheek.

Lipstick or Lip Gloss: You will be doing a lot of kissing on your wedding day so you will need a lip color that will last. Use a matte or long-wearing lipstick or lip gloss because you don’t want to be constantly touching up your makeup during the day.

Be sure to use a color that complements your hair and eye color and use a lip liner in the same color family as your lipstick or lip gloss. Don’t use a lip liner much darker than your lipstick or lip gloss. This technique looks harsh and very unnatural in pictures.

Purchase the lipstick or lip gloss and lip liner to keep in your purse for the whole day.

Wedding makeup tip: Smallish lips

If your lips are naturally small the lighter the lip colour the fuller the lips will seem.

Wedding makeup tip: Makeup remover.

Be sure to have makeup remover ready for any accidents. As you know makeup doesn’t just wipe off, especially not off a beautiful white wedding gown. Makeup wipes are a convenient way to keep makeup remover handy.

Eye shadow: For help selecting and applying your eye shadow please read Donnas article; Beautiful eyes made easy.

If you are considering smokey eyes please Donnas article; A step by step guide to sexy smokey eye makeup.

Wedding makeup tip: Eyebrows.

Properly groomed and shaped eyebrows help enhance and add expression to the face. Have your eyebrows groomed but do this a week before the wedding in case you get a few red bumps after plucking or waxing. Fill in your eyebrows, if needed, with an eyebrow pencil shade that’s slightly lighter than your eyebrows. Brush through with an eyebrow brush or a clean toothbrush for a more natural look.

Mascara: For extra lush looking eyelashes use an eyelash curler before applying your mascara. Prepare for those tears of happiness by using a good waterproof mascara. Apply two coats, let the first coat dry before applying the second coat.

When you purchase your waterproof mascara make sure that you have an eye makeup remover that also takes off waterproof mascara.

Finishing Touches: When you have finished applying your makeup you may want to apply a little more blush, and then finish with a final brush of loose powder.

What is a healthy relationship? Frequently, my clients ask me, “Is my relationship healthy? How do I know if it is healthy?”

Just as physical health is on a continuum, emotional health and relationship health are also on a continuum. And, like physical health, each person may have different criteria regarding what constitutes health. For example, some people say they are very healthy if they get a cold or flu a few times a year, while others’ health criteria is that they never get sick at all.

For some, a healthy relationship is two people who never fight or argue, or who take care of each other and basically agree on everything, or are very easy-going and give in to each other.

For others, a healthy relationship is a relationship filled with sexual passion, while others believe that a healthy relationship is when two people can talk things out in ways that reach resolution.

Rather than looking for an external definition of a healthy relationship, I suggest that you look inside and define for yourself what is very important to you in a relationship. While your relationship may have all the traditional characteristics of a healthy relationship, if it isn’t what you want, then it may not be a healthy relationship for you.

Glenn, in his early thirties, was ready to get married and start a family. He had been in a number of long-term relationships that had ended for various reasons. When he consulted with me, he had been in a relationship with Katherine for 3 years. She was pushing to get married and he was resisting, but not understanding why.

Glenn and Katherine had much in common. Both were intelligent, emotionally open people, and they both wanted children. They had similar spiritual beliefs, handled money in similar ways, and enjoyed the same activities. Their sex life was good. So what was in the way of Glenn wanting to marry Katherine?

“I don’t look forward to spending time with her. We don’t seem to click when it comes to talking. I love to delve deeply into feelings and ideas. I love sitting at the kitchen table and talking for hours without knowing how late it is. With Katherine, conversation is difficult. Everyone thinks she is so perfect for me, but I don’t feel “in love” and I think it’s because we don’t play off each other with our humor and we can’t get into in-depth conversations.”

Glenn had never before articulated how important this was to him in a relationship. Without this, the relationship was flat.

It was hard for Glenn to end the relationship with Katherine, because even though he wasn’t in love with her, he did love her and didn’t want to hurt her. But he knew he was not going to marry her.

A year after ending his relationship with Katherine, Glenn met Liz at a party. From the moment they started to talk, Glenn felt that, not only had he known Liz all his life, but that they could talk for hours. And talk for hours they did – and they still talk for hours after getting married and having children. Glenn says he is delighted with his healthy relationship!

So what does a healthy relationship mean to you?

A healthy relationship is one where: (you might want to mark the ones that for you constitute a healthy relationship)

* We can talk about anything without fear of the other’s anger or withdrawal.

* We support each other in doing what makes each of us happy.

* We each take responsibility for our own feelings and are able to share love, rather than expecting the other to fill us up with love.

* We laugh easily together and have a lot of fun with each other.

* We have similar interests and enjoy much companionship.

* We each contribute financially.

* We each contribute with household responsibilities and/or childcare.

* We find each other endlessly interesting and always look forward to spending time together talking and sharing ideas.

* We have deep trust, respect, and admiration for each other.

* We have a wonderful sex life.

* We are both very affectionate and love to hold, cuddle, and kiss.

* We share common spiritual values.

* We have the same religion.

* Other – add your own.

We each have the right to decide what is most important to us in a relationship. If you find that you are not in a healthy relationship, don’t despair! By doing your own Inner Bonding work, there is a good possibility that you CAN heal your relationship.

Author: Margaret Paul, Ph.D.
Am I in a Healthy Relationship?

Bridesmaid dresses are created to suit not just one body types but all. Whether they are made from silk, organza or any other fabric for that matter, it is important that they suit ones tastes and personal style. When shopping for such gowns, it is important to find an online store that provides several choices. And www.weddingretailer.com is probably one of the best ones you could ever find. Why spend your time visiting one bridal shop after another, when you have such a professional resource available?
Let’s talk about the styles present at www.weddingretailer.com for bridesmaid dresses. From what has been said so far, you’ve probably understood that there are two important things to consider when shopping for bridesmaid dresses: the style and the color. The third is represented by the fabric and thankfully there are numerous options in that area. It might a good idea to choose a dress that you can wear to other special occasions or formal events, something more classic than casual.
Nearly everything that goes into planning a wedding is about what the bride wants. She picks the flowers, the place settings, the invitations, and on and on. But there is one part of planning a wedding where a smart bride might want to ask for some outside input. That is, of course, with the bridesmaid dresses.
After all, the flowers won’t complain if they don’t like the vase they are in, but a bridesmaid who isn’t crazy about the cut of her dress can be a bear to deal with.
Involving your bridesmaids in the process of selecting their dresses can be lots of fun. More importantly, it will allow them to feel like they are a crucial part of the whole wedding process. A lot of the time bridesmaids can be overwhelmed when the big day comes and they suddenly have a lot of obligations. By involving them early, they will be ready when it really counts.
Here are a few examples of different styles of bridesmaid dresses that will allow you to start the conversation between you and your bridal party.
One idea to consider when picking out bridesmaid dresses is choosing a dress that can be worn over and over again on other occasions. A short cotton sateen dress will look great on your big day and on your bridesmaids long after that. This dress is also versatile for many different body types. It is available in over three-dozen color options.
For a more formal affair you might want to go with the timeless elegance of a satin, strapless ball gown. Though long and flowing, this dress will still have your bridesmaids feeling the cool breeze on their shoulders on a hot summer day. Match this dress with stylish and short jacket combinations for a winter wedding or a brisk fall night!
Another fun and stylish option is the short charmeuse dress. It has a ruched waist and a strapless neckline. One of the best features of this dress is that it even has pockets!
Beyond being just a convenient place to put things, the addition of pockets on this dress will provide the opportunity for laid-back casual portraits when it is time for photos. This dress has a simple silhouette that will make it a staple of your bridesmaids’ wardrobe for years down the line.
The long chiffon and charmeuse combination dress has a high neck and a flowing length that add up to a sophisticated and classy look. It is available in a variety of exciting color options that include Rose Petal, Oasis, and Saffron. This dress looks best when it is complemented by bold jewelry choices.
Your bridesmaids will be billowing in the breeze when they are wearing the spaghetti strap long chiffon dress. It has a beaded bust at the empire (a bodice that has a high waistline right below the bust), and it looks fantastic on a wide variety of body types. It has lovely chiffon that drapes gently down to the ground. This dress is exceptionally easy-to-wear. Exciting color options include Capri, Kelly, and Sangria.
A good compromise between the short, flirty options and the more somber ball gowns is a dress like the strapless satin tea length. It has clean and modern lines and a belt that adds a little dash of sparkle resting at the natural waist. This is a great dress that can be worn over and over again at holiday parties, work functions, or just out on a big date. It comes available in distinctive colors including Lilac, Peridot, and Tangerine.
The satin ball gown with illusion halter is a unique dress that has a style all its own. It doesn’t take the addition of much jewelry to make this gown stand out. The fabric is lightweight and will have your bridesmaids feeling gorgeous and comfortable all through the night. Some of the exciting colors available are Clover, Horizon, and Pistachio.
For an even more distinctive silhouette, the strapless satin dress with trumpet skirt and sweetheart neckline can’t be beat. It can be dressed up with a sash or a peek-a-boo skirt to make it even more impressive, or you can just let its one-of-a-kind shape speak for itself. Colors include Cognac, Guava, and Wine.
The sleeveless cotton sateen dress with knot detail is another option that looks great, especially on an idyllic summer day. The waist tapers down to the lovely front knot detail. The A-line skirt has an expertly placed pleat to flatter all shapes and sizes. This dress comes in over ten different color options.
Picking out dresses for bridesmaids can be difficult. Every wedding party is sure to be filled with a variety of different personalities, body types, and tastes. Odds are slim that you are going to be able to make every bridesmaid 100% happy with their gown. But by involving your bridesmaids in the conversation, at least they will feel like they had a voice.
